  1. What a noble contribution! good job aratawata! I hope the pebble you casted into the waters will create resounding ripples that will touch many peoples' hearts and minds.

There are so many deserving students out there waiting for assistance. For Expats not only here in the states but anywhere else in the globe, our support will definitely go a very long long way.

The student we help, will definitely remember the kindess and support. When the time comes for him to shell out, readily he would do so. This way, the cycle of goodwill and generosity will continue in the next generation and even beyond.

Am wondering, if the money used to fund political campaigns in that Ranao municipality during the most recent election was used for this purpose, imagine how many grants could have been given.

Imagine the impact it will create. Not only will there be ripples; not only will there be waves; most likely there will be a big surf and ultimately a tsunami of goodwill, kindness and generosity!

  2. Thanks Anony for the nice words. It is not much really. I just skip 1 good lunch a month and I can send a financially-challenged student in college. It's amazing how little sacrifice it takes to help another Pilandok. Ah, papayat pa ako!

  3. Absolutely right ArataWata! How much is Gym membership now? Here in my area, I asked around, one Gym which is just 2 blocks from where I live, charges 600+++ USD for annual membership. It's open 24/7, yes very convenient, not to mention rock climbing right in the facility, but don't you think it's still pricey?

You're right, A LITTLE SACRIFICE(not quite really - 200 USD is dinner for two at the Signature room of the John Hancock or a Dinner cruise in Lake Michigan onboard the posh Odessey yatch and maybe, 200 USD is just a pittance compared to what one could spend inside the "Temple of the Geeks") GOES A LONG, LONG WAY.

May many follow in your footsteps. Enough of grand rhetorics on how we can imporve the lot of the marginalized sector of Ranao society; enough of grand plans for Ranao and impoverished Pilandoks; enough of empty promises made during elections season; Enough of Lip Service! Now is the time, to WALK the TALK!

Afterall, isn't it that "THE GRANDEST GOOD DEED IS BETTER THAN THE GRANDEST GOOD INTENTION?"

Likewise, as the Nike AD goes : "LET'S DO IT!

  4. Hey ArataWata! re: Nike AD, the correct tag line is: "JUST DO IT!"

Michael J. called me up to correct the error.

  5. Correction ulit: it should be . . . . "THE SMALLEST GOOD DEED IS BETTER THAN THE GRANDEST GOOD INTENTION."

Hey Aratawata! When you set foot again on the rich soil of beautiful and promising Ranao, do give us a holler. In what way can we help?

Help may not always come in money form, but in kind, as well. Ideas, etc. may suffice, too. Right?

Your visit is perfect! Just in time for the University's Foundation Day Celebration. MSU Foundation Day will always be close to my heart. 27 ago, I had one of the most beautiful experience in my young adult life.

Anyways, am thinking what if some of us can sponsor a room at the dorm ( it could be our very first room during our freshman year, whatever) and help fund improvement and maintainnance of the room? Just a thought.

Let me know what you think and the rest, too.
