Iligan Bombing

Here's a statement from concerned Muslim and Christian citizens on the Iligan bombing last week. President Gloria snubbed the Maranaw victims when she visited the hospital in Iligan City where the bomb victims were being treated. Apparently, the Maranaw and Muslim casualties do not register in the government statistics.

Poll Results

Mucho gracias to all of you who participated in the polls. I am going to take out the poll previews because I got feed back from Ranao that the site is slow to open. You can still vote by visiting ArataWata.Com Polling Station

The poll results as of December 16, 2008 is as follows.

What do you think of ArataWata.Com?

- Useless site. Shut it down. 2% (2 votes)
- It help Ranao Social Change. 31% (39 votes)
- 0 I will recommend to my friends. 28% (36 votes)
- I prefer posts in Basa Mranao. 9% (11 votes)
- No comment. I don't care. 2% (2 votes)
- I can't watch ArataWataTV. 1% (1 votes)
- I hate Arata Wata & Amomoai. 0% (0 votes)
- I visit once in a blue moon. 1% (1 votes)
- I always post my opinions. 6% (8 votes)
- I like the discussions & layout. 19% (24 votes)
- The site is very slow. 1% (1 votes)
- Other 2% (2 votes)

2 did not like the site and wanted it shutdown, another 2 did not care, 39 said that the site can help in Ranao Social Change movement, 24 liked the discussions and site layout.

11 or 9% of the voters preferred to have posts in Basa Mranao and we're going to do just that, especially for those subjects that are culturally-sensitive, like the issue about our warisan.

For the Pilandok who can not watch the ArataWataTV, please install the missing plug-ins for your browser. Or if you're connection is really slow then it may just take long time before you can even see the TV frame. I am thinking maybe, we can just have the ArataWataTV as a clickable link so it does not open unless you want to watch it.

I am happy that most of you are going to recommend this site to your friends. The more visitors, the more discussions and hopefully solutions to our social problems.

And thank you for not hating Arata Wata or Amomoai.

Can Pilandok change his Taritib?

- Yes. 75%
- No. 0%
- Not in this lifetime. 8%
- I don't know & I don't care. 8%
- Maybe. 8%
- Other 0%

I guess we're just positive-thinking people. 75% of the voters believe that Pilandok can change his taritib ago igma. Insha Allah.

So there's hope for our bangsa. That's a good thing. Sobhan Allah!

What do you think of Kini.Kini.Rock?

- The best Maranao rock songs! 14% (9 votes)
- Just like the rest, lant'lant'ng! 3% (2 votes)
- I listen at least once a week. 3% (2 votes)
- Haram. I don't listen. 3% (2 votes)
- I will recommend to my friends. 11% (7 votes)
- I downloaded all the songs. 9% (6 votes)
- Ranao is my favorite song. 11% (7 votes)
- I want more KKR music. 11% (7 votes)
- Good for social change. 15% (10 votes)
- I play KKR when I'm online. 9% (6 votes)
- I believe in KKR messages. 9% (6 votes)
- I listen to KKR in my car. 0% (0 votes)
- Other 3% (2 votes)

2 said that KKR music is just like the other Maranao songs, ie. lant'lant'ng. Do you know what lant'lant'ng means? Ask your parents or Pilandok friends.

2 consider listening to music, haram (forbidden), 9 voted favorably and 7 will recommend the songs to their friends.

10 believe that KKR music is good for Ranao social change movement and 6 believe in the messages of the songs. 7 voters wanted more KKR music. I am working on that. Watch for the new releases, new beat, new messages.

7 voters said Ranao is their favorite. Actually, I am comparing that song to Freddie Aguilar's Anak and Asin's Kapaligiran(?). While Freddie sing about drugs, Asin and Amomoai sing about the environment.

My other favorite is "Ino Mangaday Oto?". Listen and think about it and talk about it, wokey?

Finally, on the question on whether the Kini.Kini.Revolution is the right approach to bring about social change in Ranao, overwhelming majority is on the affirmative. Kini.Kini.Revolution is (bringing) social awareness through rock n roll music.

Assallam Wallaikhom!

Arabic Grammar

Part 1

Part 2

I had to split the video because it's longer than 10 minutes. Miyakapasapasang i kambrak si Arata Wata. Pamliin!

As Muslims, we need to learn how to read the Arabic language, especially the text in the Holy Qur'an. Even if we don't fully understand the meaning of the words, at least, we should learn how to pronounce them correctly because unlike other languages, Arabic is what I call, "object-oriented" language. It uses construct similar to method overriding. That is, one word can have different meanings depending on how you pronounce it. So if you're not careful, you could be reciting the wrong prayers all the time... and you're wondering why you are not getting what you have been praying for, for ages. :-)

Here's one more video talking about the need for us, Muslims, to learn the Arabic language. The speaker was the teacher in the Arabic Grammar class that Baooai and I attended last week.
